Cannabis Spread Ideas

The versatility of cannabis oil becomes clear with all of the different options for cooking edibles. Recipes abound instructing patients on how to implement the plant into all sorts of sweet and savory infused-recipes. Aside from the delicious taste, edibles are a smoke-free option that offer the same benefits as other forms of cannabis.

Follow our simple guide to learn how to cook with cannabis and for some fun recipe ideas with which to utilize your newfound culinary knowledge.

Banana and Peanut Butter Cannabis Spread

You don’t have to be Elvis to appreciate a peanut butter and banana sandwich; all that’s required are taste buds. Bananas and bread are both inexpensive household staples, so this recipe requires little preparation or spent energy.

Simply slather each slice of spread with your preferred cannabis-infused nut butter, cut up one banana into even slices, then distribute the banana around the bread. (If you want extra gooey goodness, toast your slices of bread at the start)

If peanut butter seems a little too basic, infused hazelnut spread is a good option to branch out into other nut realms.

Apple Slices and Cannabis Infused Spread

While we’re being somewhat healthy and talking fruit, apples and spreads are another great option. Any type of apple will do, although Honeycrisp and Pink Lady are especially juicy and pair perfectly with a creamy spread.

Cut your apple into even slices with a knife (or a fancy apple cutter, if you’re lucky enough to have one), then cover the non-peel part with your spread. You can also place a dollop of the spread on your plate and dip the slices into it, which might be a less messy option.

Cannabis Pretzel Dippers

Okay, we’ve done fruit. Now let’s get to some snacking.

Pretzels are the perfect snack to dip in an infused-spread. Ideally, you’ll want to use your favorite store-brand hard pretzels. Soft pretzels are an option, but the crispy nature of hard pretzels allows for easier dipping and a nice crunchy contrast to the smoothness of the spread.

Most people are likely familiar with the salty goodness that is a chocolate covered pretzel, and dipping pretzels into an infused spread is a similar experience. The salty coating of pretzels mixes nicely with rich sweetness of a spread, and hints of cannabis add another, more exotic component to the mix.

Marijuana Infused Ice Cream Topping

Chocolate and caramel syrup may become a thing of the past once you drop some infused spreads on top of your ice cream. Cannabis-infused spreads are usually served at room temperature, making the tastes especially evident when combined with the coldness of ice cream.

Hazelnut spreads are a particularly good option to use as a topping, as this particular nut has a more subtle taste compared to peanuts. Pick your favorite ice cream, grab an infused spread, spread several spoonfuls on top of your ice cream, and enjoy the elevating experience of this exciting dessert.

Covered Marshmallow

Who can get tired of sweets? Not cannabis enthusiasts, that’s for sure.

Heat your favorite spread in a saucepan on medium heat until melted, then stick a marshmallow on the end of a carving fork and dip it into the melted spread. Rotate the marshmallow until it is completely covered. Allow the spread to cool and harden on the marshmallow.

For an extra crispy treat, roast your marshmallow over a flame before covering in the melted spread.

Brownie Topping

Brownies are the most classic, OG edible. Combining them with the the lesser-known but equally as delicious infused spreads is a double whammy of sweetness.

Buy either a boxed brownie mix, or make them from scratch using your preferred recipe (we have a great weed brownies recipe here). Using weed brownies with an infused spread might not be for the faint of heart, but for those experienced with edibles, the potency of the combined goods is a surefire way to have a unique time.

After baking the brownies, all them to cool, then cover the top layer entirely with a spread.

Warmed Baguette

We’re done with the sweets… for now. A warmed baguette topped with infused hazelnut spread echoes the pretzel dipper, combining a crunchy food staple with a creamy topping.

Baguettes come out well if warmed in the oven. Be sure to cut it into even, round slices after heating, as spreading on the sides of a whole baguette is ill-advised.

Now that we think of it, that could make for an interesting high adventure.

Celery Sticks

I guess it’s about time to throw in another healthy option. Celery sticks are easily dippable in any spread, and their firm, chewy nature allows for the taste of the spread to be fully appreciated. Peanut butter spreads pair especially well with celery sticks.

Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

Yes, you can use a spread with a liquid! There’s almost no limits to what you can do with an infused spread, but a hot, chocolatey beverage and a melted, delectable hazelnut spread are the perfect combination.

Combine ⅓ cup (80 ml) of milk with a spoonful or two of hazelnut spread in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk until blended, then add 1 cup (240 ml) of milk, raise heat to medium-high, and whisk once more until the mixture becomes a hot froth.

This beverage is perfect if you want to capture the Christmas spirit during the summer months, or if you want a break from the cold during the winter months.

Pair with Pudding

The coldness of refrigerated chocolate or vanilla pudding cups pairs well with a spoonful of a spread mixed in. Make sure to mix well until the spread is completely blended with the pudding.

Banana and Spread Smoothie

Another liquid option, the banana and spread smoothie is a rich yet refreshing way to enjoy an infused beverage. Combine a banana, ¼ cup (50 g) of plain Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp (30 ml) of infused spread, and 1 cup (150 g) of ice in a blender, and blend until smooth.

Granola, Yogurt, and Spread

Granola, yogurt, and an infused spread makes for a great way to wake and bake in the morning. The thickness of Greek yogurt makes it a good type to go with, as the spread won’t become too dominant when added. Mix the spread with the yogurt and sprinkle a handful of granola on top.

Bacon (we’re serious)

People all over the world seem to have come under the spell of bacon in recent years. What’s not to like about a crispy, salty masterpiece?

Sweet and salty are common among several items on this list, and for good reason. Crisp bacon covered in a hazelnut spread hits the balance between the two perfectly and is another great breakfast option (or lunch, dinner, dessert).

Waffles and Spread

Waffles are another classic breakfast item, and pair well with an infused spread. Simply pour half of your batter into the waffle iron, add a layer of spread on top, then pour the remaining batter. By the time the waffle is cooked, the middle will be a gooey mess of cannabis spread and will instantly add a kick to your traditional breakfast.

By the Spoonful

There’s no shame in taking a spoon and dipping it right into your tub of spread. This avoids any preparation at all (aside from opening the drawer and getting a spoon), and gives you a potent and direct way of consumption. It might not appear as fun as the other ways on the list, but that won’t matter when your mouth is full of the taste of cannabis and a nut-filled confection.

The above list is by no means exhaustive. We encourage you to get as creative as possible with your spread ideas. Any meal of the day can get an added kick of THC or CBD, as well as a flavor enhancement. The edibles market extends far beyond the standard weed brownie, and we wish you the best of luck with your spread experiments.
